Strip out and make good

The wet area

The homes we work on in Lennox Head
The older half of the housing here is beach stock and the newer half is larger and on a slab. We work on both, and on the homes through Skennars Head and the streets behind the point.

This is an exposed stretch of coast, so we point people at finishes that hold up as well as they look. These are the ones we fit most often.
Tile
Large format and classic subway
Large format keeps the grout lines down and the room feeling bigger. Subway is the one that still looks right in twenty years. Both are easy to keep clean.
Tapware
Brushed stainless, chrome or matt black
Close to the beach we point people at finishes that hold up in salt air. Brushed stainless and good chrome are the safest, and matt black is popular where the fittings are meant to recede.
Vanity
Wall hung, timber or stone topped
Wall hung keeps the floor clear and makes a smaller room feel bigger. A timber front warms up a pale coastal room, and a stone top is the finish most people want to touch.
Screen
Frameless glass, or a slim frame
Frameless keeps the room open. A slim frame in black or brushed metal reads a little softer and hides the marks better.
Walls
Pale tile, full height in the wet area
Most people here want light. Full height tile in the shower and paint elsewhere is the usual split, and it keeps the cost where it does the most good.
