We’re the bathroom renovation specialists for Byron Bay and the shire behind it. It’s the room we know best, and every one we do is built to the same standard.
Who you’re dealing with
Thirty years on the tools and on site
Phil started on the tools at seventeen and has been in construction ever since. He did his carpentry apprenticeship and worked up to leading hand, then supervisor, then site manager. He has been running his own jobs for about fifteen years. The first one was building luxury homes at Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast.
He holds an open builder’s licence, which is the licence with no cap on the value of the work it covers. He got there through a Level 4 site management qualification in New Zealand and brought it across.
The carpenters here are employed, not hired job by job. There are supervisors on the ground and an apprentice coming through, and the plumber, electrician and tiler have been the same people for years. That is why the same faces turn up at your house every morning.

What we do
Why a bathroom needs a specialist
Bathrooms are what we do most of. We renovate them across Byron Bay and the shire behind it, along with the ensuites and laundries that usually come with them.
It is the one room in the house that gets water thrown at it every day. It has to be built properly under the tiles, and it has to look right for years afterwards.
Doing a lot of them means the run is the same every time. Strip it out, run the water feeds and the electrical, sheet it, waterproof it, lay the floor, tile it and fit it off. The same people are on it the whole way through.

The scope is written before anything starts
A written quote, with the amount we have allowed for anything you haven’t chosen yet, so nothing gets assumed for you.

The same trades on every job
We’ve used the same plumber, electrician and tiler for years, and we don’t shop around for a cheaper price on your job.

Anything we find gets raised the day we find it
If something behind the wall needs attention, we’ll show you what we’ve found and give you a price for it before any extra work happens.

You can ask anyone on site
Our blokes are told to stop and answer your question, and to ring us if they are not sure of the answer. If it suits you better to ring after hours because of your own work, that is fine too.

The job keeps moving
Every trade is booked in around the one before it, so the run is planned to keep going once it starts. That’s what makes a start date from us a real one.
Local
Why the shire is its own kind of job
A lot of the houses here are older beach houses on timber floors, and timber floors move. We detail the waterproofing for that movement, which a concrete slab never needs.
Inland, up behind Mullumbimby and Federal, it changes again. Tank water, septic systems and floor heights all get sorted before anyone opens a tile catalogue.
Houses of a certain age can have asbestos sheeting in the walls. If we think yours does, we take a sample and send it off to be tested. If it comes back positive, a licensed removalist takes it away and disposes of it properly. Nobody guesses at it.
